A Great Day to be a Weight Watcher

Weight Watchers founder Jean Nidetch and CEO David Kirchhoff (image via USA Today)

People, I am having just about the greatest day a Weight Watcher can hope to have without reaching Goal or Lifetime-or meeting Jean Nidetch. Seriously.

It all started out with my usual morning look-see around the thrift store (yes, I visit my local thrift store daily. It's close to my home and I pass it a few times through the course of my day anyway, so if I want to stop in every now and then, that's my beeswax!) Today the shelves were actually kind of bare, just the usual assortment of coffee mugs, some Corelle dishes in 'Spring Blossom' (yawn, not my pattern) and then....

I believe that every time I find Pyrex, an angel gets it's wings.
I'll be honest, I might have squealed like a tween at a Justin Bieber concert (is that how he spells his name? Bieber? Beiber? Bueller?). A COMPLETE set of Cinderella Bowls in Butterfly Gold-my pattern! For only $12!!! My head was swimming with visions of all the soda cakes and low-pointsplus dishes I would prepare in my new treasures! After loading them into the babyseat in my car, I checked my phone before moving on to my next errand. Someone had mentioned me in a tweet (I love it when people do that)! But who?

Exercise madness, self inflicted cruelty and a method to my madness (special nod to @ )"

WHAT???
David Kirchhoff, CEO of Weight Watchers, mentioned me in his blog!!! I was stunned and am very moved, since I am such a gigante fan of Mr. K. You can read his entire post on his blog, Man Meets Scale, which you've heard me mention many times here on the blog and on the podcast. THANK YOU MR. K! If you think I screamed over the Pyrex....let's just say it's a good thing I was in my car by then.
But it wasn't over-not by a longshot!
Miss Mimi, of the Retro Weight Watchers Experiment is hosting her annual "Retro-WW Potluck Party" in which we, her blogger brothers-and-sisters-in-arms, take on an old-school Weight Watchers recipe. I chose "Chiles Rellenas" [sic] from the original 1966 Weight Watchers Cookbook. How did it turn out?
Not even a cow dressed as a mariachi can make this dish look appealing.

Discovered your blog today via Man Meets Scale and am so glad I did. I'm a fellow cookbook junkie who felt compelled to race over to my favorite used bookstore where I scored a copy of Jean's 1966 cookbook! Plan on making the coffee whip soon.
