CUPCAKE SIDESHOW!!! #Review

Those of you who have been with me here at Nacho Mama's Blog for a while know that it is entirely possible that I am the worst baker in the United States (though I'm still waiting to hear back from the Smithsonian). I can cook up a storm, but baking? As my husband has advised, "Just.....don't."
Did I mentioned they served mimosas? This is MY kind of class!
So when Jensen invited me to try Cupcake Sideshow, her cupcake decorating class, I was muy intimidated! But her website made it look really fun.

The classes are held once a month in University Heights and the cost is $40 (for the first class, $30 per class after that, see website for details) plus about ten bucks for the pastry tips you'll need to do the designs. I actually thought this was pretty reasonable because: 1. The class is 3 hours long, 2. You actually learn some real skills and 3. You leave with the tools you'll need!
Jensen explains why she's FONDANT FREE

We were instruced to bring a dozen, frosted cupcakes with us. Of course, I made Weight Watchers "Soda" cupcakes! The other thing, besides the fun factor, that intrigued me about Cupcake Sideshow was the fact that it is FONDANT FREE. I've never particularly cared for fondant and usually end up picking it off the cake before I eat it. Jensen teaches designs that use homemade BUTTERCREAM frosting! The designs for October's class had a  Halloween theme and I didn't think I would manage, but Jensen did a great job explaining how to use all the different tips. Check out my cupcakes!
See? I totally wasn't kidding. This is where I was starting from.
I want my MUMMY!
Spooky Kitties!

You guys, I MADE THESE! Frankenstein says, "BUTTERCREAM GOOOOD!!"
Thanks, Jensen for inviting me to check out Cupcake Sideshow! I hope those of you who live in the San Diego area will consider taking a class with Jensen-think of how you'll blow your family's minds when you show up with TURKEY cupcakes at Thanksgiving! Wishing you love with extra cheese-

Disclosure: I was invited to review this event for free, though I purchased all the supplies and baked the cupcakes MYSELF, thank you. The above reflects my honest opinion, honest!
